Starting off,,,October 4, 2010

Greetings!

As some of you knew, we were planning on starting our travels on Sunday, however, true to my last minute packing style, we were only able to get the motor home packed, motorcycle loaded on the lift, and house 'shut down' and slept in the RV in the driveway! That counted  as a start, I think.

We loaded the Jeep and took off around 7:30 am only for John to start hearing some weird sounds and noticing that a signal from the auxiliary brake system in the Jeep was  not working correctly.
We pulled over and found out that the front wheel on the right was very hot. So we stopped at a NAPA store in Terre Haute ( we did make it that far) only to find out that the calipers (whatever that is) needed to be replaced on both of the front wheels and the only place in US that had these particular parts was Phoenix Arizona! Not to worry, we were headed west anyway, and made arrangements to have them sent overnight air to a NAPA store in Dodge City, Kansas. We would be there the next day and get them replaced.

Wes, at the NAPA parts store in Dodge City was very helpful  and assured me the parts would be there and he would make arrangements to have them installed. All was well and we rested in Lawrence, Kansas for the night.
