The petroglyph is in the lower middle section of the photo
The inside of a kiva--ceremonial gathering place.
Petroglyph is right in the middle
There was a warning not to cross if any water.....no kidding!
Yesterday we moved from Cochiti Lake to Farmington, New Mexico for a big RV rally. We thought we could glean some valuable information from the seminars and vendors to help us as we 'learn the ropes' of RVing! For those of you who know me well, I insisted that we attend the opening night bingo games last night (John's heart could barely take the excitement), and although I did not bring home any money, I did learn how to play card bingo!!

Today we drove to the Chaco Culture National Historic Park which was fascinating. The ruins of the ancient Indian civilization date back to the late 800's  - 1200AD and display an intricate system of buildings including 'Great Houses' which were multiple-story stone buildings built using masonry techniques unique to their time. I tried to capture some of this amazing piece of history in the photos below. I also tried to capture some of the road we had to travel to get there.....cows, horses, and sheep all roam freely with no fences by the dirt road!
.
You will also see (maybe) some petroglyphs,  which are images carved into the stone walls by sharp objects. They were high up on the rock walls and very hard to see----pretend like you are playing "Where's Waldo" when you look at the pictures!!

Tonight there was a band from Durango, Colorado at the Rally playing dance music from the
'Swing' era----we actually enjoyed the music and danced a few numbers!! Perhaps we are older than we originally thought!! Oh well, it was fun.

Life is good in Farmington.....Debbie and John
