October 5, 2010

We woke up early with a sense of purpose to make it to Dodge City by early afternoon to get the Jeep fixed and perhaps even  get an extra hour or two driven after the car was done. Things went smoothly, and we called Wes to  let him know we would be there earlier than planned, around 1:30 (thanks to driving into the central time zone!).
Alas, somebody messed up at the NAPA distribution center in Phoenix and the parts were not shipped!! Wes knew we were headed to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta so he made arrangements for the parts to be shipped overnight and arrive on Wednesday in Albuquerque! Very thoughtful, but our campground was actually closer to Santa Fe, so we had to contact Russell in Santa Fe and make arrangements to have them sent to Santa Fe as soon as they arrived and then make an appointment to have then installed. Mission complete---everything was taken care of and we decided to drive a long day--all the way to Las Vegas, New Mexico, to be close to Santa Fe for all of of the opportunities that might arise on Wednesday.
So, although slightly disappointed, we remained positive and rested well in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
